Mae's Story
This is who I am.Remember, you ask for it!
Life
I have been married to Thomas for almost 42 years. He is my best friend and the mainstay of my world.Between us we have six kids,9cats, one 3yr old lab-retriever mix, a 4 year old mustang mare named Moon and a 20 year old rescue Appy. gelding named Anybody. We live outside Granbury,Tx. Thomas is a truck driver for a local company,so he is home every day. Until a few years ago,I worked in the floral business. I now stay home and enjoy those grandbabies. Our six kids have blessed us with 11 grandkids and 8 great grand babbies. All of the kids mentioned above are scattered from Texas to Florida.Although we love and cherish all our kids, we have really worried about our youngest son the most
He served your country in the USAF for 20 years. He retired a sergent in 2009 after completing 7 tours in or around Iraq over during that time. You would think all the worry was over, but wait!
He is now in civilian employ but can you guess where he has to go twice a year??
IF ANY OF YOU EVEN THINK YOU REMEMBER ME PLEASE DROP AN E-MAIL MY WAY.I'd love to here from you

School
While in school I was known as Mae Neal Temple/Loss.
Usually I was registered under Loss.
And before anyone asks,No I did not attend all the schools on my list. I went to Fannin Elem.'55-57 then Crockett Jr.High and OHS.But I had friends at a all of them.
I left school in '63. I met a man I believed was my Prince Charming,so I left school and married before graduation. BIG mistake, let's just say I got a huge dose of reality very quickly.Although I learned the lesson in a short time,it took me 5 years and two great kids to Remedy the mistake.
My best friends all through school were my brother,Joseph, Ollie Mae {Jody} Freeman,Barbra Ann{Bobbie}Black, Sammy Smith and Sue Emfinger all from Crockett and OHS and Peggy Doss from Bonham Jr.High and Permin and the Nichols twins from Ector My Best beau was from Premin, Robert{Skipper}Marshall ( we were togeather a long time).Afterwards, I did date Jack Capps, Hugh Kerr and several others from OHS.
My IDOL worship was toward Johnny Perkins,a local "bad boy" and Bobby Darin. No Elvis fantasies for this gal!!

my favorite teachers was Mrs.Abby[home ech at OHS]My least favorite person was Mrs. McDonald, counselor at Crockett. My fav hangout in 7-9th was the old "school store" across the street from Crockett and the drug store next to OHS.
Greens Drug on west 10th made the best milk shakes and any drive-in on N.Main was cruised every week-end. The Lyric Theater was my fav. but usually went with the one showing the best horror pics.
IN '59-63 there was a horse stable on the south side where you could ride one hour for $5. I would walk from West Co. Rd. and 6th all the way over there on Sat. morns for that hour. That is when I fell in love with the mighty steeds!
Did any of you know you could mark babies before they were born?
I must have because almost all my kids would give their eye teeth for a horse of their own!!! Too bad they live in towns!!
I blow of steam and relax by grooming the horses. I hope they never learn to speak english because they both know all my secrets.
My hero? I would have to say my mom,Ruth Temple. She was like so many women who grew up during the depression. She had a hard life and had to work harder than most people I knew just to keep a place to live. She worked two, sometimes three jobs at a time. I do not remember a time when she was in good health but she went to work anyway. She Had 14 kids in about 21 years. Several passed away long before the last one (me) was born. She taught me that you do what needs to be done.No complaining or gripping. Work hard, love harder and always have the time to spend with family, especially your kids. She passed away in Aug.92 at the very young age of 84. And,yeah, I'd say she is my hero!!
What have I learned from my kids?
They are all different! Just when you think you have the hang of raising kids, along comes the next one to prove you wrong!
If I won $100 million, I'd give half of it to start a ranch to house and protect battered and abused people, then spend the rest on a home for abused and homeless animals, put vets on payroll to care for them and supplies so it would not have to depend on donations.
A childhood memory I will never forget? That's easy. My 16th birthday party. Thanks Robert for making it prefect.
